Case Study 2
Kathryn and Karl Batey, whose daughter Isla is a pupil in Year 2, were delighted to donate recently a top of the range defibrillator machine for use at the schools’ sports grounds at Blaxton. Mr Batey said:
‘I was watching the news one day a few years ago and saw that a young boy had tragically died of a sudden cardiac arrest whilst at school. I researched and found that, without treatment, the victim's chance of survival decreases by 10% per minute whereas providing treatment within 3-5 minutes increases the survival chance to 74%. Hopefully the defibrillator will never need to be used but we hope it gives peace of mind to the school that it’s there just in case the worse ever happens’
