What will I learn?
During this course, pupils will be introduced to the world of small businesses and will look at what makes someone successful in business. They will find out how to develop an idea and spot an opportunity, and turn that into a successful business. They will understand how to make a business effective and manage money well. They will also see how the world around us affects small businesses and all the people involved.
The GCSE course is very broad, ranging from the finance unit that will test pupils’ quantitative analysis skills, to the creative problem solving approach required for the marketing and human resource case studies.
A GCSE in this subject is excellent preparation for a wide variety of A-levels and preparation for the world of work.
The GCSE is split into two units.
- In the first year, pupils will study Theme 1: Investigating small business.
- In the second year, they will study Theme 2: Building a business.
These themes are assessed by two separate 90 minute examination papers.
