The numbers certainly add up in the Hill House School Maths department with phenomenal success at the UK Mathematical Trust's Junior Challenge.
The notoriously difficult paper, which is set for pupils in Year 8 and below, is a yearly event for many of the school's mathematicians. Many of the pupils attend the school's weekly Maths Masterclass with Mr Barnett who has been prepping them for the competition. Over 60% of pupils received at least a bronze award and in this competition receiving a certificate is a major accomplishment.
Six pupils received a gold award with Yuvan Rajasundaram in Year 7 receiving the highest marks and an invitation to the Kangaroo stage of the competition. Hussain Waseem, a Year 5 pupil, also received a gold award making him one of the youngest gold winners in the country.
Mrs Thomas, Head of Mathematics at Hill House School, said: "We are so proud of all of the students who took part in this national challenge. Thank you to Mr Barnett for his inspirational Maths Masterclasses which have resulted in several gold winners!"
