Doncaster Primary Schools' Cross Country 2017

Hundreds of school children descended on Hill House School for the 15th annual Doncaster Primary Schools' Cross Country Championship.

In the under 9 girls event Greta Highfield finished in second place with a special mention for Year 3s Lottie Thomas who came 10th and Jessica Eggitt. The under 9 girls were third in the team competition.

Hill House's Daniel Reeve did the double by winning the under 9 boys event having won the same event the previous year as a Year 3 pupil. Daniel was closely followed by  Freddie Brooke, Alifie Bazlinton and Albert Attack, to secure second place for the team.

In the under 11 girls event Jessica Rowland and Olivia Lennard were neck and neck all the way round but a sprint by Jessica saw her take the title. Charlotte McLellan, stepping in at the last minute for an injured Olivia Martin, finished in a very commendable 10th position. A great run by Erin Yates saw the girls take first prize in their age group.

William Russum rounded off an excellent cross country season with third place in the under 11 boys race, closely followed by Ben Drohan and William Payne. With three Hill House boys finishing in the top 10 this secured them the team prize.

Hill House were crowned the overall winners across all age groups, for only the third time in fifteen years. Saltersgate were second and Copley Junior School were third.

Chris Keyworth, Head of P.E. at Hill House School, said "This event is one of the highlights of the year and it has been such a pleasure to welcome schools from across Doncaster. Congratulations to all runners who completed the course and represented their school."
