The Hill House School Jazz Orchestra played at the finals of the National Concert Band Festival which was staged at the prestigious Bridgehouse Theatre, Warwick School on Saturday April 8th. Many other bands were playing in the final including groups from Stafford, Warwick, Derby and Burton. The band was commended on how vibrant their sound was and how well they used dynamics in each piece. Several other jazz ensembles were much older than the average age of the Hill House group but this did not deter them at all. Everyone in the band played to their full potential but a special mention must go to Charlie Spruce for his most delicate and heartfelt solo on the Soprano Sax and for Pat Gallagher who helped drum the band to the platinum award.
Same again next year?….. No pressure!
