The u13 girls travelled to Blackpool for the North East Hockey Semi Finals. Having already qualified as South Yorkshire Champions, the girls understood this was going to be a much tougher test. It was an early start, leaving Hill House at 7:30am for the long 2 and a half hour drive to Blackpool, but we arrived in good time and in high spirits. The girls couldn't have had a better start, beating St Edwards, Merseyside 8-0. A far tougher test followed from Queens Cheshire and neither side could break through each other's defence and the final score was 0-0. After a short break it was 2 matches in a row, the first against Manchester High School for Girls which was a close game. We managed a 1-0 win with our keeper making probably the save of the whole tournament diving low down to the right to tip the ball away from danger. The next game was against Arnold, Lancashire and again we worked tirelessly to win 1-0. Going into the final game knowing a draw was probably going to be enough to see the girls through to the next round, but with their last bursts of energy, we won 2-0!
It was a terrific afternoon, with the girls working hard for the entire morning and afternoon.
The North Final awaits us now where we will represent the North East.
