Joshua Dickinson (Year 10) and George Rowland (Year 9) have made the South Yorkshire team which will compete at the prestigious English School's Athletics Association's Cross Country Championships, to be held in Norwich on Saturday 18th March.
Joshua stormed home in first place, leading his rivals by a very comfortable distance. George finished fourth in a very tough field but beat off other runners from Sheffield, Barnsley and Rotherham to secure his qualification.
Both boys were congratulated by the Mayor of Rotherham, Councillor Lyndsay Pitchley, who was the guest of honour at the event held at Winterhill School in Rotherham.
Hill House pupils Joe Warren (Year 9), Grace Thomas (Year 8), Cassandre Le Coent (Year 8) and Gregor Taylor (Year 10) also ran excellent races and although they did not qualify for the next competition, they can be proud that they had been chosen to race for the Doncaster Schools' team.
"Joshua is an incredible athlete who has recently been featured in Athletics Weekly and it is great to see George qualify for this event for the second year running. Well done to all runners from Hill House and thank you to Michelle Allott at Ash Hill Academy for managing the Doncaster Schools' team, " said Mr Lawrie, cross country coordinator at Hill House School.
