Pupils from Year 3 to Year 9 performed a vibrant adaptation of Charles Dickens' treasured novel, A Christmas Carol, to packed audiences in the school theatre.
During the performances, the audience were taken on a journey that saw the mean-spirited Scrooge rediscover his sense of humanity and joy through a series of visitations from the spirits of Christmases past, present, and those yet to be. We set off on this whirlwind tour of his life with a visit from the ghost of Jacob Marley, his former partner in business. Scrooge gradually lands in a reality where the importance of counting coins is replaced with learning to put those coins into the hands of people in greater need than himself.
The pupils succeeded in treating us to a production that was filled with ghostly visions, humorous moments, and a swelling sense of warmth and hope, as is the Christmas spirit.
This adaptation of the musical offered many challenges that saw everyone, from the Year 3 street urchins to the impressive ghosts, stretch themselves and try something a little different. Well done to all involved.
