On Sunday 20th November the Hill House School Jazz Orchestra partook (for the 3rd year running) in the National Concert Band Festival. This year the north regional round was held in Oldham.
The Orchestra played a wide and varied programme from Swing to Rock n’ Roll. They dazzled the audience with The Flik Machine from A Bug’s life, Mambo Jambo, After Sunset (alto sax solo played by Lucy Gutowski) and Shake, Twist & Jump.
The ensemble played against schools from Stafford, Harrogate and Altrincham and came away with a Platinum award. As per last year, this means the band is automatically through to the final which will be held at Warwick School, Warwickshire on the weekend of April 8th/9th 2017.
Mr Cadman, The Director of Music mentioned, “the band have worked very hard this term, they deserved the Platinum award and are growing as an ensemble every year.”
