In June, six pupils from Hill House School took part in the Children and Families Forum event, hosted by the Doncaster Youth Council at the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster.
Anna Russin and Alexander Mackenzie-Smith, both Year 10, Year 7's Grace Arnold and Alex Hattersley, as well as Year 5 pupils Grace Hull and Rhiona Lahiri volunteered to discuss key issues of importance with fellow pupils from schools around Doncaster. They listened to talks from important figures in Doncaster such as the Chief of Police, and then broke out into discussion groups to look at issues in more depth.
Our pupils, all members of the School Council, contributed real insight and thoughtful ideas on issues such as Emotional and Mental Health, Pressure on Young People and Transitions.
Anna Russin, as Doncaster's representative on the National Youth Parliament, was one of the pupil hosts introducing the speakers and helping to summarise the findings of the various groups.
The pupils enjoyed the chance to contribute meaningful ideas to help develop the future provision for young people in the area, and hope this will be the start of an important link between Hill House School and the Doncaster Youth Council, of whom Alexander Mackenzie-Smith and Anna Russin are members.
