A Level student, Jessica Farmer, has been awarded a London College of Music Diploma in Musical Theatre. Only the fourth person in the history of Hill House School to achieve such a qualification, the Diploma supersedes Grade 8, a grade to which most aspire. Jessica’s achievement is highly unusual for someone so young and is testament to her passion and dedication for musical theatre. Performing pieces ranging from opera Cosi Fan Tutte’s ‘Una Donna A Quindici Anni’ to ‘Somewhere’ from the popular Bernstein musical West Side Story, Jessica enthralled her examiner with her thoughtful and considered interpretations of her pieces and the historical range from which her programme was devised.
In response to achieving her LCM diploma, Jessica said, “I thoroughly enjoyed the process of devising my programme in order to engage thoroughly with the world of musical theatre, covering a wide span of narratives and developing my understanding of characterisation.”
Head of Drama, Mr Ross said of Jessica’s achievement, “This level of attainment is exceptionally rare for someone still in full-time education. We are all thrilled for Jessica and pleased that years of hard work and dedication has yielded such success.” Jessica will be performing a selection of her diploma repertoire at the up-coming Sixth Form Revue.
