The Hill House Junior School Swim Squad are celebrating after doing the double at their most recent swim galas.
First up was the Pocklington School Swimming Gala. The squad, who get out of bed early to train every Thursday morning at Rossington pool, were up against the hosts and The Mount School from York.
There were individual race victories for Holly Pinchin, Connie Crowther, Thalia Woods and Greta Highfield. Hill House won five out of the nine relay races and were a very close second in the other four events. Hill House were the overall winners of the gala with a score of 122; Pocklington second with 97 and The Mount third with 91.
Swim Squad coordinator, Mr Lawrie, said, "I am extremely pleased for the pupils as they have worked so hard in their training sessions with many new to competitive swimming and keen to succeed. I always knew that we had fantastic Year 5 and 6 swimmers but I am thrilled to see the Year 4 team rise to the occasion. Thank you to Pocklington for being brilliant hosts and to all the parents for your support."
The Year 3 and 4 swimmers then went up against Barlborough Hall at their next gala. It was a tough contest but Hill House came out on top, 78 points to 66.
There were individual victories for Connie Crowther; Holly Pinchin; Sam Brown; Jessica Eggitt; Jose De-Almeida and Anabelle Green. Hill House were once again very strong in the relay races with fantastic performances by the Year 4 girls who won their races by a long stretch.
Thank you to Barlborough Hall for your excellent hospitality and to all the parents and grandparents for your support. We are glad that we can put on a good show for you!
