Hill House musicians have reason to celebrate this week after double success at the National Concert Band Regional Festival in Nottingham on Sunday 26th November. The Jazz Orchestra and the Concert Band both received Platinum Awards for their outstanding performances.
The National Concert Band Festival, active now for over 30 years, is recognised as the largest and most active festival for wind instrument musicians who play in wind bands or big bands in the UK.
The Jazz Orchestra have certainly tasted success before, having attained three Platinum, one Gold and a Silver at previous festivals. However, it was the Concert Band’s first outing at the NCBF so to come away with the highest award is an outstanding achievement.
Director of Music, Mr Cadman, said, “I am beyond proud of this group of pupils. They displayed true professionalism, both on and off the stage, and were a credit to themselves and the school. We now look forward to performing at the National Festival.”
Following their success, the bands, who each performed three pieces, have now been invited to perform at the 2018 National Festival which will take place at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester on 7th & 8th April.
