House Music Competition

The last afternoon of the first half of term saw the traditionally hard fought House Music Competition, with Master House working hard to hold on to their crown. Director of Music Mark Cadman was delighted with this year’s standard, saying ‘each House has worked very hard, and the quality gets better and better each year.’
In the Junior section, Master House’s Oliver Barker’s rendition of ‘Crocodile Rock’ was a crowd pleaser, as was Field House’s superb Senior Group offering of ‘Stairway to Heaven’. With little to choose between the excellence of  Safia Khan (School), Daniel Thomas (Master) and Freya Yeo (Field), all came down to the ‘Oliver!’ inspired House Songs. Field House opened proceedings with a splendid performance of ‘Consider Yourself’. School House then produced a superb rendition of ‘Be Back Soon’, with Adam Wallace conducting, followed by an excellent finale of ‘Food, Glorious Food’ by Master House.
Adjudicator Jules Mock had the hardest job in the room deciding the winner, but after a recount, the glory went, by a single mark, to School House, on behalf of whom  Head of House Jarleth Breheny collected the trophy.
